At Evergreen Traders, we believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting initiatives that make a tangible difference in people’s lives. That’s why we’re proud to announce our $1,000 donation to Greener Village, a remarkable organization dedicated to addressing hunger and promoting food security in the greater Fredericton area. We met with Erin Pelerine, Greener Village’s Director of Development and Communications and we were amazed at the hard work and progress that was being made in our city. She taught us how much Greener Village does for our community, and the ways in which they’ve been able to help people with more complex dietary needs, such as halal and gluten-free options.

But Greener Village isn’t just a food bank; it’s a multifaceted community hub offering programs like community gardens, a learning kitchen, and the Unique Boutique thrift store. These initiatives not only provide immediate assistance but also empower individuals with the skills and resources needed for a long-term self-sufficiency.

Some might wonder why a pawn shop like Evergreen Traders would choose to support a food bank. The answer lies in our shared commitment to community welfare. Every day, we interact with individuals from all walks of life, some of whom face financial hardships that make basic necessities like food a challenge. By supporting Greener Village, we’re extending our role beyond commerce to actively contribute to the well-being of our neighbors.

We were touched by their stories, and are committed to more joint ventures in the future. We hope to be able to work closer with Greener Village in any way we can, so expect to see more from us at some of their fundraising events.

We encourage our customers and fellow businesses to join us in supporting Greener Village. Together, we can foster a community where everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive.
