We are offering a Grade-A, factory refurbished Lenovo Thinkpad for only $379. This laptop exceeds all of the minimum requirements for the school software. It does not qualify for the subsidy program because it is refurbished. We feel this is an unfair policy but there’s not much we can do about it. We sell both new and used computers (for over 25 years!) and our experience has been that refurbished computers actually have fewer problems than new units. Why? New units are only randomly spot checked at the time of assembly whereas refurb units are each thoroughly tested. Want more piece of mind? We offer a 1-year extended warranty on this laptop for $35.
How does our $379 laptop compare to the $600 laptop recommended by the province (and supplied by a Nova Scotia company)?
Size: Our Thinkpad is 11.6″ vs the Dell’s 13.3″. PRO: Smaller, lighter and easier to carry around. CON: Smaller screen
CPU: Thinkpad is an Intel I3-6100U at 2.3ghz vs the Dell Celeron 4205U at 1.8gz. PRO The I3 is superior in every way. It is MUCH faster.
RAM: They both have 8GB, no difference.
Hard Drive: Thinkpad has an m.2 192GB SSD vs the Dell 64GB SSD. PRO: Bigger is better. The Dell barely meets the minimum specs and will have no extra space for personal storage.
